CCC Submissions for Late-Breaking and Featured Clinical Trials (LBFCT)

Deadline for LBFCT submissions: Monday, June 30, 2008, 11:59 EDT – Online submission process only.  www.cardiocongress.org

The CCS Scientific Program Committee invites you to submit applications of late-breaking and featured clinical trial research for consideration at the Canadian Cardiovascular Congress (CCC) 2008.

Potential presenters must complete an online application outlining the purpose, design and method of study.  Evaluation for presentation in the LBFCT sessions will be based on the impact and novelty of the research and the rigor of the design/methods.

Please note that a Late-Breaking and Featured Clinical Trial that is accepted for an international meeting, including the AHA, ESC, and the acc and that will be published prior to July 1st cannot be presented at CCC.  Similarly, a LBFCT that is accepted for the CCC, and that will be published as a journal manuscript prior to October 1st, cannot be presented at CCC.

There is no limit to the number of applications an investigator may submit however the description for each submission must not exceed 400 words. A Conflict of Interest disclosure form identifying commercial relationships must be completed online for each author (submitter will be prompted by the online program).  The submitting author is to identify all conflicts for all authors.  By disclosing any direct or indirect conflicts of interest, the submitter authorizes the CCS to publish the conflict.  Disclosure information for all accepted LBFCT will be made available to CCC delegates.  Presenters must include a conflict of interest slide at the beginning of each LBFCT presentation.

If the submission is selected, the presenter must be one of the co-investigators listed.

The online submission site is open to individuals wishing to submit a trial for presentation at the Canadian Cardiovascular Congress 2008.  Only Clinical trials will be accepted. Submissions in the Canadian context are strongly encouraged.   Submitters may return to the online system to edit and revise information, correct errors or change table and image data before midnight on June 30, 2008 (EDT).  Withdrawal of an application must be done in writing before midnight on July 31, 2008 (EDT) via email to abstracts@ccs.ca.

Submissions will be peer-reviewed by a subcommittee appointed by the CCS Scientific Program Committee. Investigators need not be CCS members to participate and there is no processing fee to submit.

Accepted LBFCT will be published in a special October supplement of the Canadian Journal of Cardiology.  By making a submission, authors whose LBFCT are accepted give CCS permission and authority to have published his/her LBFCT without compensation.  Authors are expected to attend the meeting and present their LBFCT.  All presenting authors must register for CCC and are responsible for their own transportation and accommodations at CCC.  The first issue of the Exhibit City Guide (ECG), available in June, will contain registration and housing information.  Registration is not complimentary.

Acceptance notification will be sent via email, to the person who submitted the application, at the end of July 2008.
