Michael J Mack

Dr. Mack received his M.D. at St. Louis University in 1973. He completed an externship at M.D. Anderson Hospital and Tumor Institute in Houston, Texas and a residency at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. He also completed residencies in general surgery and thoracic surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School at Dallas.

Dr. Mack is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, General Surgery and Thoracic Surgery. Dr. Mack began his practice of Cardiothoracic Surgery in Dallas in 1983 when he co-found a large specialty group, CSANT. He is on staff at 14 hospitals in North Texas.

Additionally, Dr. Mack's accomplishments include:

  • Clinical Assistant Professorship, UT Southwestern Medical School
  • Visiting Professorships in the People's Republic of China, Brazil, Egypt, Sweden, Germany, Taiwan, Jordan and Canada
  • Over 300 presentations on cardiac and thoracic surgery in over 30 countries
  • Published more than 200 articles in peer review medical journals
  • Authored or co-authored over 75 book chapters
  • Written and edited 4 medical textbooks

In 1998, Dr. Mack and his colleague Dr. Tea Acuff initiated the development of the Cardiopulmonary Research Science and Technology Institute (CRSTI) and he serves as Chairman of the CRSTI Board of Directors.
