Planning for the Canadian Cardiovascular Congress (CCC) is well underway and the meeting is shaping up to be one of the most successful events yet!
 
Here are some CCC 2007 planning highlights:

The CCC is growing in size and in programming.  2007 presents more opportunities to gain unique perspectives and to share knowledge with colleagues from coast-to-coast.

2007 Have a Heart Bursary Program

Canadian Cardiovascular Society Academy (CCSA) is calling for applications for the 2007 Have a Heart Bursary Program
 
The Have a Heart Bursary Program is a travel bursary designed to introduce promising young Canadian medical students, postgraduate trainees and basic scientists-in-training to the cardiovascular sciences by attending the annual Canadian Cardiovascular Congress (CCC).
 
The CCC is an outstanding venue for young promising students to learn and meet Canadian leaders in cardiovascular medicine. 
 
Applicants should be committed to a future career in Canada.
 
We ask that you encourage individuals who you believe would meet the criteria to apply for this bursary program.
 
Application deadline is June 30th, 2007 - Applications are accepted online at www.ccs.ca
 
Note:  Those already established in a cardiovascular residency program are not eligible to apply.

State-of-the-Art Lecture
 
The CCS Scientific Program Committee is pleased to present Professor John Cleland, a world leading heart failure specialist from the UK, as keynote speaker.
 
Professor Cleland's research interests range from epidemiology and prevention to large randomized trials studying interventions in heart failure and related disease areas. He has also been involved in the development and implementation of heart failure guidelines for the application of current knowledge.

Québec City Night - Great Entertainment

Enjoy a fun filled evening with multiple entertainment acts and a sampling of Québec's fine cuisine. This October 22nd event will be set in Québec City's fabled Fairmont Le Château Frontenac.

Back by popular demand, the Marginal Donors Band will be one of several entertainment groups performing throughout the night. You too can rock with the docs.

 

As the band name implies, The Marginal Donors Band features transplant physicians and surgeons sd musicians. The current line-up includes from Toronto General Hospital - Drs. Paul Greig (guitar), Heather Ross ('blue-eyed Diva of Soul' on lead vocals and alto sax), and Mark Cattral (guitar). In addition, the band members include Las Toth (bass) and Tom Rasky (drums).

 

Tickets are limited and sell out fast. Available as of June 15th.
