The very popular Cardiovascular Trainee Day and Trainee Luncheon are back again this year. These unique programs are designed by Trainees for Trainees to address the specific needs of those just starting their careers in cardiovascular healthcare.
Cardiovascular Trainee Day
Saturday, October 20, 12:00 - 5:00pm
This year we have an outstanding Trainee Day planned for all future Canadian clinicians and scientists. Keynote Speakers discussing Innovations in Cardiovascular Medicine and Patient Care include Dr. Eldon Smith, Steering Committee Chair of the Canadian Heart Health Strategy and Editor-in-Chief of the Canadian Journal of Cardiology, and Dr. Peter Liu, Scientific Director of the Institute of Circulatory and Respiratory Health.
We also have eminent workshop leaders from across the country available to interact with young motivated trainees on their future in cardiovascular medicine. Topics range from translational research, to clinical trials of the future, to balancing life and work.
The annual Trainee Day is an opportunity for trainees to interact, meet, and network with peers and leading clinicians and scientists from across Canada. Encounters started here may lead to rewarding relations in mentorship, guidance, and life-long collaboration.
Cardiovascular Trainee Luncheon
Sunday, October 21, 12:00pm - 2:00pm
The CCS Trainee Luncheon is an annual opportunity for trainees to meet some of Canada's most distinguished leaders in the field of cardiovascular healthcare in an informal setting. The program focuses on the issues that are of greatest concern to Members-In-Training in all areas of cardiology, cardiac surgery, pediatrics and research.
This year's topic, Career Opportunities: The Future in Cardiovascular Sciences, will cover a subject which is top of mind to all cardiovascular trainees in Canada.
Faculty for this event are:
- Dr. Heather Ross (Cardiology)
- Dr. Philippe Pibarot (Research)
- Dr. Pierre Pagé (Cardiac Surgery)
- Dr. Joaquim Miro (Pediatric Cardiology)
The Cardiovascular Trainee Day and Luncheon are supported by the Canadian Cardiovascular Society Academy. The Canadian Cardiovascular Society Academy is a charitable organization that was created in 2000 by the Canadian Cardiovascular Society to complement and support education, research, scholarships and bursaries for medical students and prospective cardiovascular specialists.
