Canadian Approaches in Facilitating Patient Access to Care - Tuesday, October 28, 2008
Mark your calendars and join us for this year's Health Policy Workshop at Congress to learn more about and discuss patient-focused access to care in Ontario, the Atlantic region and Alberta.

Topics to be addressed include:
  • What kinds of strategies are used to facilitate and monitor patient access to care across the country? How are efficiency and quality promoted and integrated?
  • What are the key components of a patient navigator/co-ordinator program?
  • What are the strengths and challenges/lessons learned from these initiatives, and what is the vision for the future?

The workshop will be facilitated by Dr. Blair O'Neill, Chair of the CCS Standing Committee on Access to Care.

Presenters include Ms. Kori Kingsbury (Ontario), Dr. Ata Rehman Quaraishi (Atlantic region), and Dr. Merril Knudtson and Dr. David Johnstone (Alberta).

Answers to these questions and more will be revealed in this workshop on Tuesday, October 28th.

Trainee Day Planning Committee announces an exciting program for the 7th Annual Canadian Cardiovascular Trainee Day!
Training Cardiovascular Leaders of Tomorrow
Saturday, October 25, 2008, 07:30 - 16:30

The Annual Cardiovascular Trainee Day is a traditional highlight for cardiovascular trainees across Canada.  It is a day for learning and networking with a flexible format to maximize value for all who participate. Over 150 trainees attended last year!

The top 5 reasons why you should attend this year's Trainee Day:
  1. Listen to world-class clinicians, scientists and industry experts speak and discuss the critical issues in cardiovascular medicine today
  2. Try out virtual angioplasty, aortic stenting and percutaneous valve implantation using a simulator: a new feature for the Trainee Day!
  3. Clinical and research tracks for trainees with specific interests
  4. Practical tips on career choices, applying for top fellowships, writing high-impact manuscripts, and getting your research ideas funded
  5. Dedicated networking time with your peers to exchange ideas and create collaborations (not just at coffee breaks!)

The Trainee Day is an excellent means for trainees to enrich the Congress experience with all the educational and scientific value CCC provides: State of the Art lectures and symposia, leading edge clinical and basic science sessions, educational workshops, and more; enhanced by the opportunity to network with friends, colleagues as well as future mentors and collaborators.
