LIVE CASE DEMONSTRATIONS
CAS EN DIRECT
Percutaneous Coronary and Valvular Interventions
Interventions coronariennes et valvulaires percutanées
This session was co-developed with the Canadian Cardiovascular Society, St. Paul's Hospital Foundation and
Edwards Life Sciences, and was planned to ensure the evidence presented is valid, objective and balanced.
The program is a live demonstration of two cases transmitted from St. Paul's Hospital in Vancouver. The first case will describe the planning and realization of a procedure aiming at recanalization of a chronic total coronary occlusion (CTO). Novel techniques have greatly enhanced procedural success for this complex coronary lesion. The second case is a transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI). TAVI has emerged as an interesting alternative to surgical aortic valve replacement in high risk patients with severe aortic stenosis.
The priority will be to engage the audience in the discussions. Participants will be able to view the cases and ask questions to the operating physicians and panel members during the procedures.
Co-Chairs: Josep Rodes-Cabau
John Webb
Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this workshop, participants will be able to:
discuss technological and pharmaceutical developments in the field of interventional cardiology;
develop new clinical approaches to coronary and valvular diseases using imaging and less invasive procedures
apply guidelines and understand new therapeutic strategies applicable in their clinical practice; and
assess the patient eligibility criteria for coronary and valvular procedures, potential complications, and patient management prior to and after the procedure.
Live Case 1: Transfemoral aortic valve implantation
Live Case 2: Chronic Total Coronary Occlusion
Panel Discussion and Q&A
